Day 7

See all posts by

Quite a nice bright day today, had a good run along the seafront up to Thorpe Bay and back, even managed to climb Pier Hill at the end, I do normally avoid hills whenever possible. 50 min SR 5miles. Does anyone else train during the daytime and fancy meeting up for a run?

Day 6 of Training

I really wish the wind would stop.
Today I learnt my lesson, running into the wind at the start of my run, then with the wind behind me at the end, a much more pleasurable run. Why didnt I think of this before.
Today was a 40min SR 4.1 miles again, I think maybe my pace sint really changing between SR’s and ER’s. Not sure how to rectify this.
Also, Ive realised that it takes 15mins before my mind stops telling my body that it should not be running.

Hello!

Hi everyone! – first post on here so its very exciting!

Started the training properly last week, doing about 20m a week at the moment and its feels OK, hopefully going to beat my 3:58 time that I got back in 2007.  I do my long runs on Saturday morning around Eastwood country park/Hockley woods so if anyone want to join in then let me know.  Doing about 10m this Saturday.  Some company would be good as I seem to be chased by dogs quite a bit so any help fending them off would be nice!

See you soon! Iain.

Day 4 of training

A sunny but very windy morning. Did my hour Long Run. From home ran down Chalkwell Avenue and then along seafront to Ocean Beach and back again. Managed 6.2 miles. I really enjoyed todays run and feel so lucky than Southend has such a great running route. I tend to gravitate towards the beach for my runs, but I do find it enjoyable in all weathers.

Day 3 of training

Very windy out there today. Did the same run as Tuesday with the same results, except this time I tackled running up the cliffs too. Obviously feeling perky! Looking forward to the hour long run on Sunday.

A beautiful day for running, dropped of children at school and ran from Cliffs Pavilion, down Pier Hill and along seafront past Ocean Beach, then back along seafront to arches cafes. This was my 40min Easy Run, distance 4.3miles. Then a brisk walk back up the Cliffs.

Nice to meet you….

Started Marathon Plan 2

I’ve had a good read of the Marathon News, and decided to opt for Plan 2 Program. Its seems to fit in with my lifestyle, even though tempted by Plan 3, in the back of my head a voice keeps telling me; “don’t over train!”
So today I went out and ran the 30min Easy Run, along Clifftown Parade in Southend, I stuck to the top of the Cliffs as it said Easy Run, although I generally run further than this, I thought I should just stick to the Programme.
I took it very easy and ran 2.8miles. Seems like rather a slow start, but hopefully thats the best way to begin.

Hello world!

Hello All.

Although I am not new to running, I am new to blogging, so I hope this works!!

I started running in 2007 following the tragic death of our friends daughter. It inspired me to run for Haven’s & I am delighted to be doing it again.

I hope plenty of you get involved in blogging as it would be great to find other people to run with & to organise some smaller group runs.

Any of you already clocking up the miles alone, know how lonely it can get doing the long runs on your own!

Having been injured during the summer, I am just trying to regain my fitness and have got back to running around 4-5 times per week but the longest I have run recently is 10 miles. I will soon be looking to increase but I want to do this steadily to avoid further injury.

I will be aiming for a sub 4 hour finish after narrowly missing out with 4:04 last April. If anyone fancies weekend runs at between 8-9 minute mile pace, please do let me know.

I really look forward to meeting you all at the training runs – no doubt there will be some familiar faces there also.

Good luck & best wishes to all of you.

Neil Dobson
